It's a very quiet morning with everyone back at school. I wasn't sure Ger was going to make it back today as he got sick the first day of spring break vacation...bronchitis. He's on his second batch of antibiotics...hopefully these ones will work.

Sam had his LP in Vancouver last week and it went very well. His hemoglobin and platelets numbers are climbing which is great, but his ANC counts (neutrophils) are still too low. He has been off all his medications for 3 weeks to give his blood time to rebuild and recover. He is now back on his oral chemo medications at half the dose he was given originally. We are praying that his numbers will completely recover and be in the appropriate target range.

While we were in Vancouver, we stayed with Ger's parents and had a great visit. We were able to see Ger's brothers family and visit with them before they all leave to live in North Korea for three months. We also saw my dad and he is very pleased with the positive results with his balance and walking after his back surgery last month. It was great to see our friends Kristin, Bryce and Kendra who moved to Abbotsford last year as well.

The snow has slowly started melting as the temperatures creep above zero. There is still a ton of snow and it will be awhile before we see grass again. After being in Vancouver we want spring here too!

May the son brighten your spirit and the God of all blessings fill your heart with joy!

Hi Debbie,

Hope Ger is doing better.

Jayden is doing well. He still has one more week of Spring break left. We won't know whether he will be going back to school right after Spring break (i.e. next Monday) or stay at home more until we find out his counts this Thursday. But in any case, I will probably start him off with a couple of hours and slowly transit him back into the routine.

Jayden is also staring at 100% and we don't know about the 50% either...hmmm...

Like you, I am totally ready to get off the cancer roller coaster...and I don't even like the theme park roller coaster...hehehe! You know, I actually wasn't too excited going into Maintenance because of the uncertainty of how long it takes to find the "right" dosage.

"Life as usual" sounds so great. Yet I think our lives will not be the same anymore....but maybe "the same" is not good for us. He must have something better and greater in store for us! And one thing will never, never change...His love for us!

Blessings,
Evelyn

Hello Goertzens!
Deb - glad to hear you had a good visit with family over Spring Break. It never fails - when Cam's got time off, he saves his major cold or flu for his holiday. Don't want to miss any work, now! Here's hoping Ger recovers quickly, and that none of the rest of you catch anything.
We're wishing we were with Bizz - she's off touring France and London with several schoolmates over spring break here. I really miss that girl! When you have more than 1 or 2 kids, people might imagine that one being away doesn't make a difference. But as you discovered when you and Sam were away, they all matter so much! When they're away, I don't want any of them to be gone. I'm really going to have to prepare my heart for the day they really set off on their own. That's if that ever happens! With multiple adults in the house, busy with post-secondary studies, it might be me that has to move! :)
Hope the snow melts quickly here - and in PG - so that we can see the tulips trying their best to make an appearance.
I'm going to be praying for you today - and Sam, that his numbers settle where they should.
You could pray for me, too - I'm in a bit of a valley right now, and really need God's wisdom.
Love to you all, and Lucy too.

Hello all, I'm confused. I was under the impression there was a lovely family vacation in Maui for Spring Break. What happened with that? I wanted beautiful tales of beach frolics and family pictures! I hope you had your special trip, and it was enjoyed by all. We think of you daily, and the prayers are going up.I hope all goes well, call if you need us.

Blessings,
Tara
