We have had a really great week in Vernon and Karly finished at the summer games. Her team did well and she played really well. All her disciplined practice really paid off.
Sam is enjoying his week off and nearly felt like an ordinary kid this week. He still finds himself nauseated from time to time but overall he feels much better than he's felt for a month. Sam has loved being at his favorite place--swimming,boating,driving the digny, paddle boating, playing loads of croquet, and fishing. Thanks to his uncle Mike and Auntie Darlene for lending us your place in paradise once again. This year it was more of a treasre than ever before.
We are heading back to Vancouver on Tuesday morning as chemo treatments start up again. We are heading into another brutal month as Sam receives 4 days of chemo each week for two weeks in a row. We've had such a wonderful time here it's hard for all of us to leave. We don't look forward to going back and fighting cancer, but we know we have to. It's been delightful to see Sam having so much fun here!
K8 arrived back from Homewood sailing camp with great stories and tales of a week at sea! She had a blast and also got to reconnect with Jerry Loeb who used to be on staff at Cedars.
Karly had the "best tournament weekend" of her sports career thus far. We loved watching her team and cheering them on.-It was a fantastic group of girls!
It's another blue blazer here at Kalamalka Lake and we intend to enjoy our last day here. Ger and Mike are already kayaking and I need to take Lucy for her long walk before it gets to hot!
As we head back to Vancouver we are feeling renewed and refreshed through spending time in the presence of God's creation and natural sanctuary. We will persevere along side Sam as he continues his battle and fights with a strength that can only come from God and answered prayers. Thank you for sharing in our summer joys and struggles...you continue to bless us with your comments, prayers, letters, and care packages! Thanks for caring and loving us through our ever present dark shadow of leukemia that follows us wherever we go.
Much love
Debbie

It is wonderful to see that you have had a reprieve in the beautiful Okanagan. Sam you look so good and happy in the pictures. We were back east for a while but now that we are back. I would love to get together to pray again if you would like that.

Hi Goertzen's
even though we have had crummy weather here in PG, I think that it is soo awesome that you have had good weather in Van and also had great time at the lake! God is so good and only he knows what we need and when. haven't answered much but have kept up reading your blog and praying for all of you.
Dale and I are off tomorrow to Thailand for a month! 2 weeks holidaying, and 2 weeks mission trip with 7 others from Westwood! God has been so good to us already anwsering prayers before we have left to work there. Not being a teacher I am a little intimidated with some of our responsibilities so God will just have to take over cause I can't imagine doing some of it! as I imagine that is how you sometimes feel in your situation.
just wanted to catch up with you a bit and let you know what we were up to as well. we also have a blog spot from about the 15/16 of Aug on and it is teamthailand2008.blogspot if you want to check us out sometime.
