Day 0 - May 15

Our day started with a prayer and then off we went for more tests. The first one was a Bone Marrow Biopsy and Bone Marrow Aspiration. Sam was 'consciously sedated' for this and they put a needle into his hip bone and extracted tissue for testing so we could receive a diagnosis.

In the afternoon we had our first visitors. Noni Goertzen, my twin brother's wife from Langley, came to say hello and to bring us some food and treats. Then, Bob Hollier and a firefighter, Les, came by to say hello. Bob is my sailing friend from Kalamalka lake and his two sons, Nathan and Carson, are two of Sam's closest summer friends. It was so great to see him. He brought Sam a Shaw_Teddy Bear and a Vancouver Firefighter Shirt (which Sam is wearing now as pajamas). They also sent us a huge basket of fruit and food and offered us their car. What wonderful friends we have surrounding us with their love.

By the late afternoon, the doctor came up to tell us that Sam had a type of leukemia. The exact type we wouldn't know until tomorrow after the rest of the tests were completed. We were shocked.
