Sam felt sick on Monday and came to my office. I took him home at 11 am and he went to bed. Tuesday he stayed home from school feeling really lousy. Last week Debbie and Karly had the flu so we thought he’d just caught it too.
Wednesday he was really sick so Debbie took him to the hospital. On the way, we were passing the school and he asked his mom if she would phone his teacher and ask the class to pray for him because he was worried.
Debbie and Sam waited in the ER for two hours and then right after they got the blood tests back, everything went into hyper speed.
He was wisked up to the Pediatric ward and saw a pediatrician who told Debbie that he either had a really bad infection which was suppressing his bone marrow or he had something far worse.
Anita showed up with Landon and Rylan after school. Everybody had to gown up and mask up because of Sam's low blood count numbers for his immune system.
Ladonna and Mel showed up after Ladonna came from the airport (she was just awarded a BC Premier's Excellence Award in Victoria for her role as a Chemo Nurse at PGRH). Joel showed up at about 6pm.
By 7 Randi, the nurse, had called the air ambulance. By 8:45 we were all on the air ambulance. By 10pm we were in Children’s Hospital. By 3am we were in the ward 3m and had had a ream of blood tests.
Debbie's sister Donna met us at the hospital. She took Debbie home for some sleep and I stayed in the hospital with Sam.

Hi Sam
Nicole (grade 9 Deaf girl) and I are praying for you every night. I just found out today about your Blog. When I think of you, I always picture you with a basketball in your hand, and shooting at the basket every minute you can during the girls basketball game breaks. Can't wait to see you do that again.:) Take care, thinking of you always and on the top of our prayer list:)
