June 25 and 26

Yesterday was a long day, but it went very well. Thank you for praying for Sam. He didn't get any headaches, felt nauseous, but was given medication to relieve that, and didn't suffer any other side effects, besides feeling tired. He and I managed to share the stretcher/bed and both fell asleep. Why does his medicine make me so tired? While he was resting and the nurse watching him, I went to the airport to pick up our good friend Nolan Hanson. He is part of the provincial U15 basketball team. They are practicing here in White Rock for a few days and then heading to the States for a tournament. Sam has enjoyed hanging out with him, playing pool with him in the rec room area, and spending time together. Nolan fell asleep yesterday on the drive home from the hospital and today after his 4 hour basketball training session...I guess Sam's chemo is making him tired too! (Or we are just so boring!) These sleepy days sure make us treasure the days that Sam had energy and we were able to do some fun things together with family and friends.

We are looking forward to Ger and Karly coming hopefully this weekend. Katelyn is at Ness Lake Camp for her training session and will join us in another week. Yeah...we can't wait to be together again, its been too long.

I heard the Kindergarten Graduation was great. Thank you to Mrs. Werk and Mrs. MacDonald for getting the students ready for their program and organizing the special event. I can't wait to see pictures of how the parents decorated the gym and see the DVD Katelyn and Ger made chronicling our year together. I can't believe I missed graduation! I so enjoyed my students and their parents...what wonderful memories we shared together this year. It sure has been a special blessing in my teaching career to be at Cedars and have had the privilege of being a kindergarten teacher the last 8 years. I loved teaching this age group and the uniqueness of this particular grade level. I sure would never have anticipated how abruptly our year would end. Congratulations to all my students on their many accomplishments and the way they have so beautifully matured socially, emotionally, spiritually, academically, and physically. Thank you too to my wonderful parents and all you did to make our year so successful. It was a pleasure to partner together to nurture "our" children this year! I hope you all have a great summer and enjoy the summer break. P.S. I use at least one thing everyday from my special mommy basket and am reminded of your care for us!

That's it for tonight, sweet dreams!

Good morning you two! Hooray the last day of work for me!!! Glad to hear you did good yesterday Sam. You were in my thoughts and prayers all day. Your poor Dad looked like he had the headache. Today is the staff breakfast, sure will miss you Debbie, will be thinking of you. Hope that Gerry and Karly leave tomorrow, already told him to just go. His office sure looks nice, its a blast teasing Gerry that it looks pink on the bottom, even though it really doesn't! But, don't tell him that. Well gotta go, last day in the zoo. Love to you both. Hey Sam! This is Miss V, who can finally get your blog here in China! Wow, I had a lot of catching up to do. You've been busy! How nice it will be to have your dad and Karly back around. I'm sure new faces and new things to talk about are always a nice treat. Karly, you look beautiful with no hair!! Wow! I am so proud of you! I've got another ten days in China and would love to see you when I am back in Canada!
Love Miss V

Sam and Debbie and Gerry and Karly and Kate:
Thanks for keeping the blog up to date and for all of the good info. Glad to hear that things are going well - we will continue to pray that the impact of the chemo is high and the side effects are minimal... I hope you will enjoy being together as a family again. The Bailey / Browns got to Calgary safely and last night 19 of us enjoyed dinner at my brother Cam's place. The main event is today and Sunday - over 100 Bailey's will be there! Not bad for a bunch of non-mennonites! God bless you all today and through the days to come.

Love, Paul
